Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Review (PC Steam)

It’s funny, it’s action-packed, and it’s visually stunning. But most importantly, it’s a lot of fun.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is looking so good, it’s almost criminal. It’s got everything you could want in a video game: A likable cast of characters, including Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet, the new Lombax heroine.

A creative and imaginative world full of wacky creatures and gadgets. And of course, over-the-top action and platforming.  Seriously, this game is so much fun, I could barely put it down.

If you’re looking for a exciting, and visually stunning intergalactic adventure than check out Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart!

And let’s not forget about the weapons! “Rift Apart” boasts some of the craziest, most over-the-top weapons in gaming history. From the Topiary Sprinkler (turns enemies into lawn ornaments) to the Negatron Collider (basically a handheld black hole generator), you’ll be cackling maniacally as you unleash chaos upon those alien goons.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart feels like a family-friendly blockbuster! And while this all sounds great and it´s easy entertainment for a few hours, I have to admit that a few weeks after completing it I totally forgot about it. As a classic PS2 Ratchet & Clank fan I feel like the series has lost it´s edge. There was a kind of magic in the early Ratchet & Clank games, the crazy onscreen chaos of wacky cartoon monsters, smashed crates, bloody good gunplay, and a swarm of bouncing bolts. We went from “Up Your Arsenal” and “Quest for Booty” to family friendly Saturday morning modern sensibilities entertainment.

In conclusion: Yes, the gameplay was had a ton of frantic action set pieces and fun level design and boss battles, but it all felt so shallow. Ratchet & Clank feels like the soulless corporate property they once fought in their first adventures. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a fantastic action-adventure game with no heart.

Little known Gaming Kick FACT: Recently replayed the The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy on PlayStation 3! And these games are still amazing! Combined with the edgy jokes it´s worth a revisit for sure!
